Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Older pets benefit greatly from bi-annual examinations and monitoring. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite will provide for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.
Anesthesia: We will utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are to be monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment will provide high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.
Electrocardiography Services: We will provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Laboratory: We utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Permanent identification: We offer microchip identification.
Pharmacy: We carry a full range of medications needed for your pets' immediate problems. We recommend using Vet Centric for any medications we don't routinely have in stock, and we are happy to help you with this process. Upon request, we will also give you a paper script for your pets' needs, and you are welcome to have that filled at the pharmacy of your choice. Our policies remain the same regardless of whether you choose to fill your pets' medications at our hospital or with the pharmacy of your choice.
Individualized Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
Bathing: Limited therapeutic bathing services are available.
Emergency Care: Please contact Capital District Animal Emergency Clinic at (518)785-1094 for after hours emergencies. We also suggest Animal Health Center at (518) 371-3606 for emergency care during weekdays in the unusual instance we are not immediately available.
