  • Royal Canin  Nutrition FAQs, informative videos, and an interactive pet section to gain knowledge of how nutrition can help your pets health.
  • Heartworm Society    Everything you ever wanted to know about heartworm disease can be found here!
  • Behavior problems  Founded by Brian Kilcommons and Sharon Wilson, best-selling authors and recognized experts on animal training and behavior, this site is a terrific resource for advice on a variety of behavioral problems. If you want to learn more about feline housesoiling, barking dogs, aggression, or any other behavioral problem, check this one out!  
  • National Animal Poison Control Center This is the website of the National Animal Poison Control Center. It includes a library, links to other sites, and phone numbers for the poison control center.
  • USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service The USDA maintains this website with information on a variety of animal health related topics, including the latest news on such things as Mad Cow Diseases, foot and mouth disease, and many other things.
  • Rainbow Bridge Anyone who has ever lost a pet should visit this wonderful site. It is a terrific tribute to our lost family members
  • West Nile Virus This site is maintained by the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, and has the latest information on the spread of West Nile Virus in the US, as well as information on disease transmission, symptoms, etc.
  • Pet Friendly Hotels This site has a nice directory of pet friendly hotels and motels.

 

Here is a list of local rescue organizations, trainers, and rescue groups who may be able to assist you and your pet further:

 

  • Tundra Spirits - Siberian Husky rescue. Whether you are looking to adopt a homeless husky, trying to learn more about the breed, researching mushing/skijoring techniques, or just stopping by for a quick look, this is your place to go!
  • New York Saint Bernard Rescue - Saint Bernard dog rescue where you can get information on the breed. They rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs of the breed that need help.
  • Country Roads Rescue - Provide humane education to the public, and sanctuary to animals in need. Services include the trapping and transporting of feral cats to the vet for sterilization and proper vaccinations, housing animals for recovery, and the return to colony.
  • MC-SPCA - The Montgomery County SPCA can help you out whether you are looking for a new best friend, low cost spay/neuter program, animal surrender, donating, found a stray animal, etc.
  • Warsaw Dog Training - Offering training for dogs in Gloversville, Johnstown, Amsterdam, and surrounding areas. They offer group classes, private lessons and behavioral consultations for all ages of dogs and puppies.
  • Animal Protective Foundation - Located in Scotia, NY and serving Schenectady County, the APF can help you with low cost spay/neuter programs, animal surrenders, strays, and adoptions!
